Delimited Column Extractor Tool
Extract column #
Columns delimited by this text*
*Single space pre-entered.
Monospaced font.
Enter your input text here. Enter the column number to be extracted such as 1, 2, 3, etc. and what delimiter seperates the columns such as a space, comma, period, colon, letter, number, word, segment of html code, etc. The delimiter can be just about any text. No delimiter will make each of your text's character a column for extraction. A prefix and/or suffix may be added to each extracted item by entering into the appropriate input box. Add a new delimiter (if needed) with the suffix box. Empty boxes will produce no output. Click the "Extract Column" button and the specified cloumn of text will be loaded into the results box below. EXAMPLE: Test extracting each line's first word (cloumn #1, delimited by space) from this default text by clicking the "Extract Column" button now. You will see the first word from each line loaded into the results box below. Change the "Extract column #" box to 2, click the "Extract Column" button again and the second word from each line will appear below. Checking "Append" will continuously merge extracted columns into the end of each other which is useful to rearrange the delimited columns of your input text. e.g. To reverse input's column order, extract input's last column, then extract the next to last column, and so on. Now output's column order will be the reverse of input's. Be sure to add a new delimiter to the suffix box since input's delimiter will not be pass through the column extraction process.
